Basic Library Guide

The Assignment

This library training session will (hopefully) help you to develop the basic research skill of choosing and refining a topic and locating resources which support your topic.  Selecting and narrowing your topic can be the most challenging aspect of an academic research project.

Assignment:  You have been asked to choose among such topics as capital punishment, gay marriage (or adoption), prayer in school, animal testing, healthcare debate, tax credits for parents who send children to private school, the VAT to replace the income tax, and the Flat tax to replace the income tax.   You are to write an argument paper, with 3-4 outside sources, arguing for or against your issue.
