Writing Center

Writing Center

The NCWC Writing Center is dedicated to helping students become better writers through Individual Consultations with peer consultants, interactive Writing Workshops, and collaborative or individual Writing Hours.

Writing Center Hours

The Writing Center is located in the Pearsall Library, Room 146. The Writing Center’s hours are:

Monday-Thursday 1:00-9:00
Friday 1:00-4:00

Resources for Students: Individual Consultations

Students in any class and at any stage in their writing process can schedule an Individual Consultation with our trained peer consultants. Consultations may be face-to-face or online. Be sure to provide a copy of the assignment sheet.

Scheduled appointments will be given priority over walk-ins.

Collection Development

 

Current students, faculty, and staff can access our databases and search the catalog through the main page of the library website. http://ncwc.edu/library/ 
The library seeks to acquire resources that support the college’s academic programs, meet the basic needs of faculty and students, and provide additional materials related to the cultural and recreational needs of students. Each faculty member has a liaison librarian based on their academic department.

Reference Services

Professional reference librarians are available to assist students with research, online searching, questions about the collection and interlibrary loan.  Librarians are able to answer reference questions, demonstrate proper citation methods, and assist students with their research needs.

Circulation Services

  • Students may check out up to 25 books at a time, up to 3 DVDs at one time, and up to 2 reserve items at one time. 
  • Faculty and staff may check out as many books or DVDs at one time with the exception of reserves, which are limited to 2 items at one time.
  • Public borrowers are limited to no more than 5 items on loan at one time and no more than 3 DVDs at one time.

Computer Use

The library provides 36 desktop computer workstations plus circulating laptops and IPads for student use in the library.  The laptops are wireless-enabled and can be used throughout the library and in the Internet Cafe.  Simply sign a contract that covers you for the academic year, turn in your student ID while you have the laptop or iPads for 4 hours each at a time.  Laptop and iPads can be checked out at the circulation desk near the main entrance.

Media Production Lab

Media Lab

Whether you're into broadcasting, advertising, or just doing something different for class, use our Media Production Lab to create your own video projects! We have equipment like camcorders and lighting that can be checked out of the library, as well as a green screen and Final Cut Pro for video editing. Makerspace

Makerspace services (3D printing, 3D scanning, and one-on-one consultation sessions to help with designs or other
information) are available to current students, faculty, and staff of North Carolina Wesleyan College.
