The library maintains course reserves to make sure heavily used resources are available for students when they need them. Library materials or faculty-owned materials, including books and DVDs, may be placed on reserve. Copyright law does not permit the library to place photocopies of material that is protected by copyright on reserve. Reserve items may be designated strict reserve (3 hour circulation period for use in the library), 1-day, 3-day, or 1-week reserve.
Contact Grace Wallace to place items on reserve.
To check out reserve items, visit the circulation desk and ask for them. They are organized by the name of the instructor and the course number.
Patrons can place a hold on any item in the online catalog by using the "Place Hold" button. That item will be held at the circulation desk for up to 48 hours. Requests may also be placed by phone.
Occasionally books and other materials may be recalled due to special needs by another patron. Patrons will be notified of a recall by an email message. Items will not be recalled before the original due date unless they are checked out to a faculty member or staff member for the entire term. The maximum loan period for recalled items for faculty and staff is 30 days. When returned, recalled items will be held at the circulation desk for the next patron.
Students may check out up to 25 books at a time, up to 3 DVDs at one time, and up to 2 reserve items at one time.
Faculty and staff may check out as many books or DVDs at one time with the exception of reserves, which are limited to 2 items at one time.
Public borrowers are limited to no more than 5 items on loan at one time and no more than 3 DVDs at one time.

Books and DVDs may be renewed by telephone, through email, in person, or through the online catalog for a period equivalent to that of the original loan, provided the item has not been placed on hold by another patron.
