This assignment will give you experience locating articles in reference sources. You may discuss the assignment with a librarian or your classmates, but you must find your own articles and write your own answers to these questions.
1. Log on to a computer and go to Wesleyan’s home page. Click on “Library”. Click on “Articles”. Click on “Electronic Resources by Subject”. Click on the drop down menu for the ‘select a subject’ box. Click on “Psychology”. Enter the PsycARTICLES or PsycINFO database. Do a search for articles, with full-text linked, using the subject terms “Memory, “Meaningfulness” and “College Students”. Select TWO of the articles you find, and write down:
The title of the database you used
The title of the article
The author(s) of the article
The title of the journal where the article was published
The year, volume, and page number of the article
A three-sentence description, using your own words, of what the article is about.
2. At the library homepage, click on the white tab titled “Catalog.” Using the College’s electronic catalog, find a psychology book about “memory”. Write down:
The title of the book
The author of the book
The year the book was published
The number you would use to locate the book in our Library. (If it is
an electronic book, ​say that it is an e-book.)
3. Visit the website www.apa.org. Click on publications and database. Journals. Search (memory). Journal articles. Find an article that focus’ on working memory. Write the reference – Author(s) (pub date) Title. Organization. Journal, vol. page # (s).
Review the article and briefly note the main focus of the research.
